WALTHAM, Mass. – September 18, 2020 - The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) announced Peter Ruffini, a Realtor® and broker with Keller Williams Realty in Long Meadow, MA is the recipient of the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award for 2020. The award acknowledges Ruffini’s outstanding voluntary service to Longmeadow, Mass. and greater national communities.
“Peter has been a crucial team-member and link to his client success and is the type of volunteer this award was created to recognize,” said Theresa Hatton, CEO of MAR. “He has spent countless hours representing MAR at the local, state, and national levels as evident in his accomplishments.”
A Realtor® since 1996, Ruffini served as the 2018-19 chair of the MAR Realtor® Independent Expenditure Political Action Committee. He was also a member of the Presidential Advisory Group and Task Force that helped form it. In addition, Ruffini was chair of the State Political Coordinator Presidential Advisory Group and Task Force, as well as a long-time member of the MAR Government Affairs Committee. He has served MAR in numerous leadership roles including president, president-elect, two consecutive terms as secretary/treasurer, vice president for government affairs, south region vice president and has served on the MAR Board of Directors since 2006.
On the local level, Ruffini was the 2007 President of the Plymouth and South Shore Association of Realtors® and was its Realtor® of the Year in 2009. At the national level, Peter is a Realtor Political Action Committee Major Investor, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Director, and a member of the State & Local Issues Mobilization Support Committee. He was a multi-year member of the Realtor® Party Member Involvement Committee and its chair in 2017. He was also a member of the Realtor® Party Advocacy Workgroup in 2013.
Ruffini is also on the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons.
First awarded in 1984, the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award recognizes and regards distinguished voluntary service to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors® over a period of years of continued participation in its activities, and loyalty to its purpose. The award is named in honor of former Realtor® and MAR Executive Vice President Milton H. Shaw.
