    At the Museum of Science in Boston there is a very tall Foucault pendulum (named after French physicist Léon Foucault - hat tip to Wikipedia). At the bottom of the cable is a weight (or “bob”) that swings back and forth in various patterns knocking over pins on the hour. This type of device was the first simple experiment to visually show that the Earth rotates.
