Cambridge Broker Receives Massachusetts Realtor® Distinguished Service Award

by Eric Berman - eberman@marealtor.com - 781-839-5507 | Oct 15, 2018

WALTHAM, Mass. – October 12, 2018 – The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) announced recently that Deborah Heffernan, broker/owner of Avenue 3 Real Estate in Cambridge, has been named recipient of the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award for 2018. The award was presented at MAR’s Professional Awards Reception, which was held in September at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.

First awarded in 1984, the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to one Realtor® member or staff executive who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and volunteered countless hours of personal time to serve on state association committees and participate in MAR activities.

“Deborah Heffernan has been a steadfast champion of the Massachusetts Realtor® community for over two decades,” said 2018 MAR President Rita Coffey, general manager of CENTURY 21 Tullish & Clancy in Weymouth. “Her support, expertise and commitment over the years has helped bring the organization where it is today.”

A Realtor® since 1984, Heffernan has been a dedicated volunteer for nearly just as long. At the state level she has served on numerous committees over the years, including as regional vice president and chair of the Government Affairs and Finance Committees. She has served as either a director or an alternate director 22 times since 1994.

On the local level, she was a director of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board in 2014. She served as president of the Greater Boston Association of Realtors® in 2011 and on the Executive Committee in 2012.

At the national level, Heffernan was a member of the NAR Board of Directors three times. She also served as a member of the State and Local Issues Committee from 2011 to 2015.

Heffernan is also an RPAC Sterling R Major Investor.
