Image Enhancement & Communication Programs

Your personal success depends a great deal on the professional image you project, that’s why the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® works hard to enhance the credibility and public perception of its members as knowledgeable, experienced businesspeople. Among the services offered by the state association to improve the public’s awareness and respect for REALTORS® and promote the difference between REALTORS® and non-members in the media are:

REALTOR® Image Ads

Each year, as part of your dues dollar, the MAR places advertising in the electronic or print media educating consumers as to the valuable services REALTORS® can provide in the lease, purchase, sale and rental of real property. The state association also has produced advertising and marketing materials that you may use to target the For Sale By Owner market. Camera-ready 1/4 page print ads and web banner ads are available to any member at no cost from MAR. Promotional outdoor banners also are available for purchase.

Media Relations & Publicity

The MAR Communications Department publicizes the individual accomplishments of its members and the organization by compiling and distributing dozens of news releases to the print and electronic media every year. REALTOR® involvement in significant public policy and legal decisions affecting property rights, homeownership and land use issues is widely publicized to the public. In addition, the association provides draft news releases for use by members in promoting their completion of the Graduate REALTORS® Institute (GRI) designation program, as well as participation in numerous statewide events and activities. As members advance up the local leadership ladder of the organization they also receive media training from the state association to prepare them for their role as an industry spokesperson.

REALTOR® Trademark Protection

The association monitors numerous newspapers, home guides and other print materials for proper use of the federally trademarked REALTOR® term and logo. Any real estate firm, news publication or non-member found to be violating the REALTOR® trademarks is typically contacted in writing by the association. Read more about trademark usage on Realtor.org, or contact the MAR Customer Service Department at 800-725-6272.
