WALTHAM, Mass. – October 9, 2013 – The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) announced today that Maggie Tomkiewicz, a broker at Milbury and Company in South Dartmouth, has been named recipient of the MAR Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award for 2013. The award was presented at MAR’s Professional Awards Reception, which was held in conjunction with the Association’s 2013 Conference and Tradeshow at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth
First awarded in 1984, the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to one REALTOR® member or staff executive who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and volunteered countless hours of personal time to serve on state association committees and participate in MAR activities.

A REALTOR® since 1989, Tomkiewicz is former MAR President and has been a member of the MAR Board of Directors since 1997 and she is currently the chair of the MAR Audit Committee. In recent years Tomkiewicz has also served on the MAR Bylaws Committee and served as Dean of the MAR Leadership Academy. In addition, she has served or chaired numerous other committees and work groups over the years.
On the national level, Tomkiewicz has spent six terms as a member of the NAR Board of Directors and has chaired the Resort and Second Home Real Estate Committee. She has also served on the Forum Conference Program Subcommittee, Risk Management Committee, and the Multiple Listing Issues and Policies Commitee.
At the local level, Tomkiewicz is a member of both the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® and the Greater New Bedford Association of REALTORS® (GNBR). She is a former GNBR President was also their REALTOR® of the Year in 1998.
Tomkiewicz is a Sterling “R” RPAC contributor.
