WALTHAM, Mass. – October 7, 2012 – The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) announced today that Joan Witter, a broker with Sotheby’s International Realty in Osterville is the Massachusetts REALTOR® of the Year for 2013. Witter was presented the award at MAR’s Professional Awards Reception, which was held in conjunction with the Association’s 2013 Conference and Tradeshow at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth.
The state’s REALTOR® of the Year is selected annually from among the nominees of the 16 local associations of REALTORS® and more than 19,000 REALTORS® in Massachusetts. Judging for the award is based on service to the local community, business accomplishments, and service to the REALTOR® organization on the local, state and national levels.
“Joan Witter is what a true REALTOR® professional is all about,” said 2013 MAR President Kimberly Allard-Moccia, broker-owner of Century21 Professionals in Braintree. “She is not only dedicated to helping the REALTOR® association at all levels, but is mentor to her fellow agents in her office and a committed member of several Cape Cod-based civic and charitable organizations.”
Joan Witter is the 2013 Immediate Past President of both the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS® (CC&IAOR) and the Cape Cod & Islands Multiple Listing Service, Inc. She is currently a member of the CC&IAOR Executive Committee and Events Committees. She is also a member of the Policy Manual Task Force and has served on numerous other committees in the past.
At the state level, Witter is currently the Cape Cod & Islands Region Vice President, a member of the Executive, Communications and Forms Committees. She has served five terms as member of the Board of Directors and has been an alternate member for two terms. Witter has also served on the Professional Standards Committee.
At the national level, Witter is a NAR Director and a member of the Resort and Second Home Real Estate Committee.
A REALTOR® since 1994, Witter has earned her Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations and is also District/Region Vice President of the Massachusetts Chapter of CRS.
