President's Message

WELCOME to the Massachusetts Women’s Council of Realtors web site!

Happy New Year – well, as excited as we are to be in 2011 I feel like 2010 is still breathing down our necks, but it’s time to CLEAN OUT, CLEAR UP and GET ORGANIZED.

Let’s resolve to make smart decisions that will enable us to be successful in our business and our personal lives.

Nine years ago, when I made the decision to become a member of the 12th largest professional women’s organization in the U.S, I did it for very selfish reasons.  I was new in town and realized that to be as successful in real estate here as I had been in the Midwest I needed to know and learn from people who were successful here.  I have never regretted that decision.

Women’s Council of Realtors® (WCR) became my business partner.  Meetings at the local chapter level provided insight into marketing and prospecting in a fast paced environment.  I learned from other Realtors® who were not afraid to share their successes and developed skills to listen and hear what my clients needed. I sold “dreams” to happy clients and saw my business grow.  As with all of us, then something changed; suddenly I needed to learn about short sales, foreclosures, REOs, full-doc loans, FHA, title insurance, Facebook, Linked-In and Twitter….Oh My did things change!

There is a popular saying that goes “No one plans to fail…they just fail to plan.”   Well we can all agree that planning and education are more essential now than ever and WCR helps us focus together on what it takes to be successful in this real estate market.  It is not coincidental that WCR Members collectively generate more than $100 million in commissions annually!!!  It is the result of planning and education.

WCR focuses on what it takes to be successful in real estate.  The State and Local Chapters present programs based on the current marketplace and how to make adjustments that will enhance your bottom line.  For example currently scheduled programs cover:  Negotiating Strategies; Professional Credibility and Networking; Business Planning and Systems; Personal Performance Management and Cultural Awareness.

This year’s lineup of classes/programs has never been more timely or beneficial.  Let us help you make the best use of the lessons we collectively learned in last year’s evolving market and empower us to move ahead more efficiently and profitably the ever before.  Check out www.mawcr.com for a complete list of State and Local Chapter programs for 2011.

In addition to our local business resource meetings WCR offers Leadership Development  opportunities, National Conferences held in conjunction with NAR, webinars, Social Networking and an on-line National Referral Network to enhance your business.

Renewing your membership is easy just go to www.wcr.org and renew today.  Not a member yet?  Join us at any local chapter business resource meeting or contact me for details.  An investment in your business is money in your pocket!

Let us move forward together, be proactive, tame this market and together, make this the best year in real estate ever.
