Massachusetts Real Estate Educator of the Year Established in 2003, the Massachusetts Real Estate Educator of the Year award recognizes REALTORS® for their voluntary contributions and participation in activities that promote the professional development and career advancement of fellow real estate practitioners. The award is intended to be presented annually to a deserving MAR member who promotes professionalism in the real estate industry through personal involvement in numerous professional development activities. Persons to consider for the award may include instructors for continuing education, pre-licensing and professional development courses; trainers for local real estate brokerages; chairpersons or members of the local REALTORS® association’s education committee; and members who have been active in providing professional development and career growth opportunities for agents and brokers or those who speak to community groups or at high school or college careers days to increase public awareness about real estate as a full-time profession. Nomination Process & Deadline The nomination process for the Real Estate Educator of the Year Award is open any MAR member, affiliate member, or local REALTORS® association staff or committee. No individual or committee may submit more than one candidate for the award each year however. Nominations must be submitted in writing using the association's Educator of the Year Award Nomination Form, and must be received by June 1st to qualify for the current year's award presentation. Entries should be submitted to: MAR Education Department, 256 Second Avenue, Waltham, MA. 02451. Applications may be accompanied by additional literature or materials that demonstrate the nominee’s abilities and experience as an educator, however applications that are supported by such documents will not be weighted more heavily than those that do not. Award Selection & Presentation The recipient of the Massachusetts Real Estate Educator of the Year award is chosen by MAR Educator of the Year Award Selection Committee. The criteria for selecting the state Real Estate Educator of the Year includes one’s role as a professional development trainer and instructor for industry-related courses; personal involvement in the development of real estate curricula and/or course materials; and the publication of originally authored works, such as a book or bylined article in an industry trade journal or newsletter. Professional designations or honors that demonstrate the quality and commitment of an individual to the role of educator also may be considered. The award recipients receives a commemorative trophy which is presented each year at the MAR Professional Awards Banquet, typically held in the fall.
