Facebook Timeline has officially rolled out to business pages and interactions with followers have significantly changed. With new cover photos and ways to highlight posts, pages are now more visual; allowing businesses to get more creative with their marketing and branding.
Cover Photo REALTORS® can display a larger logo, staff, or town image; although Facebook has created some guidelines for cover images. The number one rule being that businesses can’t use it as a promotional billboard. According to Facebook, the image can’t contain any sales, calls to action, or contact information. REALTORS® will not be able to reference any Facebook features, so pointing to the Like button is forbidden. Facebook wants Pages to be completely about a brand’s image and nothing else.
Welcome Tabs
Facebook has removed the feature that allows REALTORS® to direct visitors to a welcome tab; instead visitors are permanently directed to the wall. Tabs will still be active, but they will be hidden below the page’s cover photo. This makes it a little trickier to draw attention to announcements about events or sales, but the tabs still feature unique URLs that can be linked to.
What You Should Do Don’t panic! Even though Facebook business pages have changed, your strategy shouldn’t. It’s important to remember that social media is about engagement and communication. Use the cover photo to showcase your brand, utilize Timeline by pinning posts in place, and adding important milestones. The key to social media is personable interaction with your audience using unique information and photos.
