The recently completed 2011 NAR Member Profile for Massachusetts provides an in-depth look at today’s MAR member, including demographic characteristics, business characteristics and activities, income and expenses, and office and firm affiliations. So, who is the typical MAR member? Here are some highlights, with national comparisons:

􀁑 65% of MAR members are female; 57% are females nationally
􀁑 The median age of all Massachusetts REALTORS® is 54; nationally it’s 56
􀁑 The median gross income for MAR REALTORS® is $38,900; the national median is $34,100
􀁑 77% of all MAR members have a smartphone compared to 72% nationally
􀁑 MAR agents had nine transactions typically in 2010; nationwide typically it was eight
􀁑 Commercial specialists in Massachusetts typically had 19 transactions in 2010 compared with eight nationwide
􀁑 Massachusetts REALTORS® have a median of 14 years of real estate experience compared with a national median of 12 years
