Rail~Volution is a conference for passionate practitioners who believe strongly in the role of land-use and transit as equal partners in the quest for greater livability and greater communities. Rail~Volution 2009 provides a unique opportunity for innovative minds to develop solutions for issues that affect livability in cities, towns and regions of all sizes and shapes. Attendees cross a broad spectrum of disciplines – including elected officials, developers, advocates, urban planners, transportation experts, architects, financiers, citizen organizers and many others from more than 300 communities in 30 states.
This year, Rail~Volution will provide practitioners, policy makers, investors and advocates with exciting opportunities to showcase your own successes; share lessons learned with others in your field; gain useful insights, and demonstrate the value and strength of livable communities to the hesitant and skeptical in your own community.
President Obama understands how transportation investments help to shape and nurture our urban regions, while Transportation Secretary LaHood speaks freely and often about creating Livable Communities. Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, leaders of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee are committed to Principles for Livable Communities that could have been lifted straight from past Rail~Volution programs.
