Massachusetts Realtors® can take their professional development even further by becoming a member of one of several councils: the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS), the MAR International Council, the Massachusetts Commercial Investment Council (MCIC), and the Women’s Council of Realtors® (WCR). Benefits of council membership include access to networking and referral opportunities; discounted registration rates for courses and events; and council communications via e-mail alerts and newsletters. Additionally, these councils sponsor seminars, panel discussions and classes specific to their industry focus - many of which can lead to an NAR real estate designation.
• Council of Residential Specialists, an NAR affiliate council, confers the Certified Residential Specialist designation, and provides its members with ongoing educational opportunities and access to a national referral network of over 47,000 members. The 500+ member Massachusetts Chapter sponsors several networking events and designation courses each year aimed at increasing productivity and profitability. • MAR International Council was formed to meet the needs of the growing number of REALTORS® interested in becoming international real estate specialists. The MAR International Council offers a number of programs each year, including panel discussions, networking receptions and the popular brown-bag lunch series. • Massachusetts Commercial Investment Council provides educational and networking opportunities to real estate practitioners from Massachusetts who transact in commercial real estate either exclusively, or just on occasion, and serves as a resource for the commercial real estate community. • Women’s Council of Realtors®, an NAR affiliate council, confers the Performance Management Network (PMN) designation, and has over 19,000 members nationwide, with more than 300 local and state chapters throughout the country. The Massachusetts Chapter, along with four local chapters, offers regular networking and educational programs on such topics as effective negotiating, change management, networking and more.
