Showcase your listings at Statewide Open House Event on May 31st and June 1st

 MAR and MassHousing have partnered together to present “Opportunities Knock: Community Homebuyer Fairs and Open Houses Statewide” on the weekend of May 31 and June 1 to kick off National Home Ownership Month.

 The purpose of the event is to get more people into the market by promoting homes for sale that are affordable to low- and moderate-income first-time home buyers who are eligible for MassHousing financing.  And who is better at making this happen than Realtors®?

“This is a great opportunity for Realtors® to not only promote the idea that now is a good time to buy in Massachusetts, but also helping low- and moderate-income first-time homebuyers experience the ‘American Dream’ of home ownership,” said MAR President Susan M. Renfew.  “I encourage every member to look at the purchase price limits for their towns, because you’d be surprised how many of your listings might qualify.” 

 The event will kick off with six regional housing fair events on the morning of Saturday May 31.  The open houses will take place in the afternoon and on Sunday, June 1.  In order for an open house to be highlighted as part of this event, it needs to meet the MassHousing purchase price limits.  MassHousing will be promoting this event to its network of over 140 approved lenders across the state and to numerous non-profits who pre-approve buyers for MassHousing loans.  In addition, they will be offering those who attend the housing fairs with closing cost discount coupons.

In addition to providing the listings, Realtors® will have opportunities to participate in the homebuyer fairs as well.  There will be more information to come for MAR members.
