| President signs ‘Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008’ |

| Today, President Bush signed into law the “Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.” Passed by a vote of 272-152 by the House on July 23rd and by a vote of 72-13 by the Senate on July 26th, the bill is considered to be one of the most important pieces of housing legislation ever created. |

| Understanding the $7,500 Homebuyer Tax Credit in the New Housing Law |

| One of the programs included in the new housing bill signed by President Bush today is a $7,500 homebuyer tax credit. While this tax credit has the ability to make the cost of homeownership more manageable, it is important to understand that this “tax credit” is actually an interest-free loan that is repaid over 15 years. |
