MAR CEO Robert Authier welcomed members to the Great Hall at the State House while staff General Counsel Steve Ryan, Esq. briefed the attendees on legislative issues.  MAR President Laurie Cadigan thanked members for their involvement at the event and fired up the crowd with her passion for advocacy.  She iterated the importance of them visiting legislators and commended attendees for their dedication to local political involvement and to supporting MASSRPAC. 

Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray gave the keynote address to a packed Great Hall, noting that REALTORS®  have a strong voice at the statehouse that helps strengthen Massachusetts neighborhoods.  

Murray talked about the administration’s commitment to growth and development in Massachusetts and how Chapter 43D is making strides to reduce permit times and work with municipalities to expedite development.  He also  spoke about the $1.275 billion dollar bond authorization signed in 2008, the state’s largest investment ever in housing and community development projects throughout the Commonwealth which has provided a comprehensive plan to provide affordable housing in Massachusetts.

The Lieutenant Governor definitively showed his support for the real estate industry, and how integral home ownership is to the economy.  He graciously thanked REALTORS® for their hard work and active participation in the industry. 

Upon completion of the opening program, REALTORS® convened with their local associations to visit with their Representatives and Senators.
