| MAR Surpasses its 2009 RPAC Goal |
| 11/10/2009 |
In a tough year for fundraising of any kind, MASS RPAC faced challenges in reaching its fundraising goal. In September, responding to numbers showing MASS RPAC being short of goal, many members stepped to the plate and contributed at major donor levels. Many Local Associations also had fundraisers that helped MAR reach its goal.
As a result, in mid-October NAR confirmed that MAR reached its 2009 RPAC goal and then surpassed by 5%. Six Local Associations have now reached their participation goals of 25% of their members contributing to RPAC. They are Plymouth and South Shore, Greater Boston, Greater New Bedford, Cape Cod and Islands, Northeast, and Pioneer Valley.
Some members pointed to the homebuyer tax credits as an example of the importance of continuing to support RPAC. Others said that the more local example of MAR’s opposition to a sales tax on commissions showed that it is more important than ever to make sure RPAC is helping to put the “Voice for Real Estate in Massachusetts” front and center on Beacon Hill.
