Peter Casey of Prudential Wilmot Whitney Real Estate in Weston has been named recipient of the MAR Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award for 2009.
First presented in 1984 in honor of longtime MAR CEO, Milton H. Shaw, the Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to one REALTOR® member or staff executive who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and volunteered countless hours of personal time to serve on state association committees and participate in MAR activities.
A REALTOR® since 1992, Casey is former MAR President and longstanding member of the MAR Board of Directors. He is currently an Alternate Board member. Under Casey’s leadership, the Business Development Committee was formed, on which he still serves, and he was instrumental in the formation of the Association’s for-profit-subsidiary Real Estate Advantage Products & Services (REAPS). He has served on numerous committees in the past including: Executive, Personnel, Finance, and Investment.
An active member of the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® (GBAR), he is a former chairman of the Association’s Audit, Finance, and Strategic Planning Committees, a past Director, and served as Treasurer from 1997-1999. He received the Association’s Andy Hickey Award for distinguished service in 1998, and was honored as the Association’s REALTOR® of the Year in 2002.
On the national level, Casey was a six-term member of the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors, a Federal Political Coordinator and past chairman of the Business Issues and Public Policy Coordinating Committees. He currently serves on the NAR Public Policy Coordinating Committee and REALTORS® Association Professional Practices PAG.
Professionally, Casey has earned his Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) and Graduate, REALTORS® Institute (GRI) designations. Frequently quoted in the media, Casey writes a quarterly column for the Boston-based real estate and banking publication, Banker & Tradesman.
