Peter Ruffini, Regional Manager for Jack Conway REALTORS® in Marshfield, was installed on December 1, 2011 as the Secretary-Treasurer of the 19,000-member Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) for 2012. This is Ruffini’s second consecutive term in this position.  The event took place at the Salem Waterfront Hotel and Marina in Salem, Mass. and included the installation of the MAR Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Ruffini’s second term officially begins on January 1, 2012.

As secretary, Ruffini will determine quorums and be responsible for the preparation and presentation of the minutes and roll call at all meetings of the Association’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.  Furthermore, he is in charge of the corporate seal of the Association and will execute any documents requiring the signature of the secretary by law. 

 

As treasurer, Ruffini is responsible for determining the Association's financial needs, investing the Association's reserved funds, and preparing monthly income and expense statements and an annual operating budget for association activities.  In addition, he will serve as chairman of the state Association's Finance Committee.  Ruffini automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of his election.

 

Prior to being elected secretary-treasurer, Ruffini served as vice president for government affairs in 2010.  Ruffini has served on the MAR Board of Directors since 2006.  In 2009, Ruffini served as the South Region Vice President.  He was a member of the Finance Committee and chair of the Technology Committee in 2008.  Ruffini has also been a mediation officer and a member of the Technology, Government Affairs, Forms, and Professional Standards Committees in previous years. 
On the local level, Ruffini was the 2007 president of the Plymouth and South Shore Association of REALTORS®. Still a member of several committees, Ruffini was his local association’s REALTOR® of the Year in 2009.
 

Active at the National Association of REALTORS®, Ruffini has served two terms on the NAR board of directors and the NAR Communications Committee. In 2012, Ruffini will be a member of the NAR REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee.
 

A REALTOR® since 1996, Ruffini has earned his Certified Buyer Representative (CBR), Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) and professional real estate designations and e-PRO certification.
