Amleto “Mel” Martocchia, broker/owner of Martocchia & Company, Inc. in Waltham, has been appointed vice president of government affairs for the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) in 2011.

As vice president for government affairs, Martocchia is responsible for coordinating the initiatives of the MAR Business Plan relative to public policy issues, grass-roots organizational efforts, and legislative and political action activities of the Association.  In addition, he will act as a liaison between leadership and all work groups formed under the MAR government affairs umbrella.  He automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of his appointment as a focus area vice president.
Martocchia has served on the MAR Board of Directors since 1997.  He has been a member of numerous committees over the years including Government Affairs, Professional Standards and Finance Committee.  In 2008, Martocchia was named MAR REALTOR® of the Year.
On the local level, Martocchia was the 2010 president of the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS®.  Martocchia has also been a member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and served as a Director in 2010.  In 2008, he was his local association’s REALTOR® of the Year.   
At the National level, Martocchia was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of REALTORS® in 2010 and served on the Research Committee in 2010.
A REALTOR® since 1985, Martocchia has earned his Certified Buyer Representative (CBR), Certified Real Estate Broker Management (CRB), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations, and Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) professional real estate designations.  He has also earned is Loss Mitigation Certification (LMC).
