At its annual meeting, September 15, the MAR Board of Directors approved a new budget and elected the 2011 officers. The 2011 MAR elected officers are: President Laurie Cadigan of Concord; President-Elect Trisha McCarthy of Newburyport and Secretary/Treasurer Peter Ruffini of Plymouth. The budget approved includes a $4.00 increase for 2011, the second increase in six years.
In addition to the election of the Leadership Team other elected officers voted were: John Ranco, 2011 Boston RVP;David Stead, 2011 Central RVP,Laurie Wilkey, 2011 Southeast RVP; Angela Harkins,2011 Northern RVP; Ernestine Sawicki,2011 Western RVP;Kim Allard-Moccia, 2011 Southern RVP;Lynette Helms, 2011 Cape Cod & Islands RVP
Other notable business included the creation of a Young Professionals Network; $200k in funding approved from the NAR Issues Mobilization Committee and $100k approved from the MAR Private Property Protection Fund for the purpose of defeating Ballot Question #2, which seeks to repeal “Chapter 40B”; and, approval of MAR’s existing policy providing state dues waivers for members in 2010 and 2011 who are called to active duty and member spouses of those called.
Additionally, four Massachusetts REALTORS were awarded Life Membership and will have their dues waived for longtime REALTOR service and membership of the Association. They are: Joseph Clancy, Sr., Broker/Owner of Century 21 Tullish and Clancy in Weymouth, MA; Richard Dufour, Broker/Owner of Dufour Associates, ort St. Lucie, FL; Patricia Libbey, REALTOR® with Hammond Real Estate in Chestnut Hill, MA; Fred Meyer, Broker/Owner of University Real Estate in Cambridge, MA.
