2011 President-Elect

Trisha McCarthy of Newton, New Hampshire and a broker with Keller Williams Realty in Newburyport, was installed on November 30, 2010 as president-elect of the 19,000-member Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) for 2011.  The event took place at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge and included the installation of the MAR Board of Directors and Executive Committee.  McCarthy’s term officially begins on January 1, 2011.

As president-elect, McCarthy will participate at all levels of the Association's decision-making process, represent the Association at important meetings and business functions, and serve as a spokesperson for the Association on various real estate industry-related matters.  In addition, she will perform the duties of the Association’s president in his absence.  She automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of her election.

Prior to being elected as 2011 president-elect, McCarthy served two terms as MAR’s secretary-treasurer.  Prior to that, McCarthy was Vice President of Legal Affairs/Business Development.  McCarthy has been a MAR director since 2003, and served as MAR Professional Development Vice President in 2006 and 2007.  Additionally, from 2007-2009 she was chair of the Online Education Work Group, and was a member of the Professional Standards and RPAC Committees.  

On the local level, McCarthy is a member of the North Shore Association of REALTORS® and has been a member of the Greater Newburyport Association of REALTORS® (GNAR) Board of Directors since 1999.  She was the president of the Association in 2001 & 2008, vice president in 2000, and secretary in 1999.  She was the 2007 chairperson for the GNAR Bylaws Committee, and served on the Education and RPAC Committees in 2007.  McCarthy was honored as REALTOR® of the Year by the GNAR in 2001. 

A REALTOR® since 1991, McCarthy has successfully earned her Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) professional real estate designation, Loss Mitigation Certification (LMC) and her At Home With Diversity (AHWD) designation and e-PRO.  In addition, McCarthy is an instructor for the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.
