Laurie Cadigan, broker/owner of Barrett & Company in Concord, was installed on December 3, 2009 as president-elect of the 20,000-member Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) for 2010.  The event took place at the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield and included the installation of the MAR Board of Directors and Executive Committee.  Cadigan’s term officially begins on January 1, 2010.

As president-elect, Cadigan will participate at all levels of the Association's decision-making process, represent the Association at important meetings and business functions, and serve as a spokesperson for the Association on various real estate industry-related matters.  In addition, she will perform the duties of the Association’s president in his absence.  She automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of his election.

An MAR director since 2005, Cadigan was the vice-president of professional development in 2008 and 2009, a member of the Leadership Development and Business Development Committees in 2007, and the Executive, Finance and Government Affairs Committees in 2006.  Cadigan was the recipient of the MAR Realtor® of the Year Award in 2007.

At the local level, Cadigan served as president of the Greater Boston Association of Realtors® from 2005 to 2006, was chair of the GBAR Nominating Committee in 2007, and was named GBAR REALTOR® of the Year in 2007.  

Active at the National Association of Realtors®, Cadigan has served on the NAR board of directors since 2005, and was a member of the 2007 Business Issues Committee. 

A REALTOR® since 1988, Cadigan has successfully earned the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) and Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) professional real estate designations.
