Marilyn Jarvis of RE/MAX Advantage Real Estate in Beverly and a resident of Swampscott has been appointed vice president of professional development for the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® for 2011. 

As vice president for professional development, Jarvis is responsible for coordinating the initiatives of the MAR Business Plan relative to the Association’s educational outreach efforts to REALTORS®.  In addition, she will act as a liaison between leadership and all work groups formed for professional development.  She automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of her appointment as a focus area vice president.

Jarvis, is a member of the MAR Board of Directors and is chair of the MAR Education Committee.  In 2010, Jarvis was the Northern Region vice president.  Prior to that, Jarvis was the chair of the Education and Events and Educator of the Year selection committees in 2009.  She is a graduate of the 2007 MAR Leadership Academy.  She is a member of the Massachusetts chapter of CRS Board of Directors and the Council’s 2010 and 2011 Treasurer.  In 2009, Jarvis was named Massachusetts REALTOR® of the Year.

At the local level, Jarvis is a past president of the North Shore Association of REALTORS® (NSAR).  In 2011, Jarvis is the chair of the RPAC Fundraising Committee and member of the Leadership Development and Nominating, REALTOR® of the Year and Community Advocacy Committees.  She has also been a member of the Finance, Government Affairs and Nominating and Leadership Development Committees and Chair of the Member Recognition Committee.  In 2009, she was NSAR’s REALTOR® of the Year.  

On the national level, she is a two-term member of the National Association of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Committee in 2010 and 2011. 

A REALTOR® since 1986, Jarvis has earned her Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), and GREEN professional designations; is a graduate of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI); and has earned her Loss Mitigation Certification (LMC).
