WALTHAM, Mass. – October 18, 2011 – The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) announced today that David Peretti, senior vice president/manager of Hammond Residential Real Estate in Winchester, has been named recipient of the MAR Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award for 2011. Peretti was presented the award at MAR’s Professional Awards Reception, which was held in conjunction with the Association’s 2011 Conference and Tradeshow at the DCU Center in Worcester.
First awarded in 1984, the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to one REALTOR® member or staff executive who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and volunteered countless hours of personal time to serve on state association committees and participate in MAR activities.
“There are not too many people who are as equally committed to all three levels of the REALTOR® Association and the business of real estate as is David Peretti,” said 2011 MAR President Laurie Cadigan, broker/owner of Barrett & Company in Concord. “Whether it is going to a local meeting, or managing a national campaign, you can always count on him to be there to help support his fellow members and move the Association and the industry forward. He is truly deserving of this award and everything it stands for.”
A REALTOR® for almost 40 years, Peretti is former MAR President and has been a member of the MAR Board of Directors since 1985. He is currently a member of the MAR Audit and Investment Committees. In recent years Peretti has also served on the MAR Finance and Investment Committees. In addition, he has served or chaired numerous other committees and work groups over the years.
On the national level, Peretti received the prestigious National Association of REALTORS® Distinguished Service Award in 2009. He has been a member of the NAR Board of Directors since 1988 and was the Region Vice President in 1992. He has also chaired or served on numerous NAR committees including as a member of the Executive Committee, Federal Taxation Committee, Election Reform Task Force and the Finance Committee.
At the local level, Peretti has been the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® representative on the MAR Board of Directors since 1988. He has been a member of numerous committees from the Nominating Committee to the Finance Committee to the Publication & Communications Committee. Prior to that, he was an active member in the North Central Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®.
Peretti is a Sterling “R” RPAC contributor and has earned his Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) and Certified Real Estate Broker-Manager (CRB) designations.
